To be one among the reputed GI & Laparoscopic Surgeons in Kolkata means not just extending my healthcare acumen and surgical expertise to my patients but to make a positive contribution to their life, giving them nothing less than my best.
Over the years the practice of GI & Laparoscopic Surgery have helped me understand ‘pain’ and its management. The drawbacks of traditional surgeries, though at time they do become absolutely necessary, have reinstated my faith in minimal invasive surgeries times and again. Besides, most surgeons in Kolkata and elsewhere do endorse the Laparoscopy as a surgical intervention. It not just less painful but helps you recover very fast…getting you back to your life in no time.
I have been associated with GI and Laparoscopic Surgery since 2012 and have been conducting various types of surgeries ranging from Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy to Laparoscopic Cardiomyotomy. Over the years I have performed and excelled in minimal invasive surgeries like Hernia and Gall Stone removal, Colo-rectal etc.
My journey has been a learning curve. After completion of MBBS from R G Kar Medical College & Hospital, Kolkata and MS in General Surgery from Calcutta National Medical College & Hospital, Kolkata, I joined Department of Surgical Gastroenterology and Liver Transplant, SDLD, SSKM Hospital, Kolkata as Senior Resident. I spent almost 2 years there, after which I joined Medica Superspeciality Hospital, Kolkata in the department of GI and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery as Junior Consultant. And with course of time I became Independent Consultant. Now I practice Advanced Laparoscopy, GI & GI Oncosurgery in Medica Hospital and few reputed hospitals in Kolkata.
I had the opportunity to undergo fellowships in Minimal Access Surgery (FMAS), in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery (FALS) and Gastro-intestinal Endo Surgery (FIAGES). It followed with the Fellowship of Indian Association of Surgeons (FAIS). And finally I was honored with the Fellowship of American College of Surgeons (FACS) at San Diego, California, USA.
What I have learnt through this journey, apart from the knowledge and skill that made me a reputed GI & Laparoscopic Surgeon in Kolkata, is that, at times it’s not medicine or surgery, but minor lifestyle changes can lead to the path of wellness and wellbeing. I feel that I am obliged to the society and my peers to share my knowledge to promote healthy habits and lifestyle among all.
Let us work together not just to minimize the suffering but improve the quality of life and promote health.
